Development of Emotional Competences in Higher Education

Research on emotional competence development (ECD) in university students is scarce and shows mixed results. This research establishes what possible to expect from an optional self-leadership program (SLP) consisting of eight workshops three hours each, with a student-centered experiential approach. The method was DEXPLIS design (n=126), which quasi-experimental ex-post-facto for the first quantitative phase, experimental control groups where CDE A35 self-informed instrument Bisquerra Pérez-Escoda administered, participation qualitative interviews second phase. results indicate global progress ECD, more evident intrapersonal (EC), although SLP has not been effective interpersonal EC. perceive their ECD as being very important. In European Higher Education Area (EHEA), part acquisition generic or transversal competences, contribute integral training, well better preparation world work.
